Chronic Neck Pain
Much like lower back pain, neck pain is a common medical condition that can happen to any person, whether young or old. Neck pain, also called cervical back pain, can be caused by a number of factors, from simply straining the muscles and ligaments due to over fatigue or remaining in awkward positions for long periods of time to more serious spinal conditions, such as degenerative disc disease, cervical herniated disc, and spinal stenosis, to name a few. Depending on the severity of the condition and the pain it causes, this condition can either be an acute or a chronic neck pain.
The neck is basically made up of the cervical level of the spine. This level consists of seven vertebrae and they help protect and house the spinal cord and its various nerve roots. Similar to other levels of the spine, discs can be found between each vertebra that helps minimize friction and wear and tear between the bones, increase flexibility of the spine, and generally maintains the health of the spine. Various structures that are also found in the neck area are the muscles, arteries, veins, various glands, such as lymph, thyroid, and parathyroid, esophagus, larynx, and trachea. Typically, any disease or conditions that affect these structures can be a factor for acute or chronic neck pain.Subscribe to us to get the latest on chronic neck pain relief.
